- Abstract
- The report describes simulation studies of fast projection techniques for adaptive nulling of jammer signals. These techniques are based on a data selection criterion applied directly to the data vectors obtained at the output of an antenna array. The selected data vectors are used in fast projection algorithms to estimate the antenna weighting vector that is orthogonal to the jamming vectors. Four such algorithms are described ranging from the fastest but least effective to the most computationally demanding but most effective. In effect, these algorithms provide a better trade-off of performance versus computational load than has heretofore been available. Relative performance is compared with that of the standard Sample Matrix Inversion (SMI) technique for test cases which evaluate the effects of the number of jammers, the jammer strengths relative to the receiver noise and the jammer angular positions.
