- Abstract
- Forty-two compounds previously screened at the Walter Reed Army Institute of Research were selected for further evaluation. The compounds were administered orally to mice prior to gamma irradiation. The LD sub 50/30 was computed and dose reduction factors determined. Dose reduction factors up to 1.45 were obtained for both water- and lipid-soluble compounds with administered oral doses of 100 mg/kg or less. The relationship between chemical structure and protective activity of the compounds is discussed.
