- Abstract
- The Human Factors Engineering Intelligent Computer-Aided Drafting and Design (HFE-ICADD) tool has been developed to facilitate the application of human engineering design criteria during the review and evaluation of shipboard workspace. The software supports communication of design reviews and revisions between human factors professionals and non-Human Factors design staff with the goal of incorporating sound human factors principles in the overall ship desing. HFE-ICADD is composed of four software modules linked together by the project manager screen. Each module contains applications which are either "off-the-shelf" of custom developed software. This use manual is intended to help the user interact with the shell and custom-developed software of the HFE-ICADD systems. It does not contain instructions for specific 'off-the-shelf' products. Information covered includes: * "Quick start" instructions; * an introduction to the background of HFE-ICADD and its intended place in the Canadian naval vessel design process; * description of the hardware and software components; * information about installations, file management and other housekeeping issues; * five shelf-taught lessons.
