Abstract
The report evaluates superresolution direction finding methods for land tactical narrowband VHF/UHF purposes. The DF methods are described and evaluated in depth using a common theoretical framework beginning with classical methods and ending with modern day eigenanalysis based methods. Based on this analysis, superresolution methods can be described in terms of a five step procedure where each step has a unique purpose in the estimation process. Different methods vary according to the operation performed at each step. This is useful in analyzing and comparing the theoretical performance of various DF methods under the same conditions. The results from simulations are also included to support the theoretical evaluations.
