Abstract
The report describes a preliminary investigation of the physical and mechanical properties of carbon fabric re-inforced, electron beam (EB) cured polymer matrix composites. Screening tests were carried out to determine the flexural modulus and dry and wet T sub g of 17 EB curable acrylated epoxy resins. The three most promising systems were selected for further study which included determination of optimum radiation dose and dosage rate, resin shrinkage during cure, void content, residual curing stresses and measurement of tensile, compression and in-plane strength and modulus.
