Abstract
Under a commission from the Minister of National Defence, Mr. William Barton reviewed activities in chemical and biological defence within the Department of National Defence (DND) and Canadian Forces, and in December, 1988, recommended that a full environmental audit be performed at Defence Research Establishment Suffield (DRES). DRES is a tenant at Canadian Forces Base (CFB) Suffield (the Base), which is located in southeastern Alberta approximately 50 km northwest of Medicine Hat and 250 km southeast of Calgary. DRES is organized into two research divisions, Defence Sciences Division (DSD) and Defence Technologies Division (DTD), and two support divisions, Program Support Division (PSD) and Administration Division (AD).
