Abstract
The complex nature of urban pollution, the great range of variability in concentration brough about by meteorological and other factors, the properties, behavior, sampling, and analysis of gaseous and aerosol constituents of the atmosphere representing natural, industrial, and domestic sources have been discussed since 1949. The contributions to our knowledge of analytical methods and instrumentation is sumamrized by reference to a number of symposia and review papers.
