Abstract
The work addresses the conceptual design of a space sled simulator, a device for testing astronauts under varying motions and acceleration profiles. The report includes preliminary specifications, a safety analysis, discussion of design alternatives, cost estimates (for detailed design, manufacture, installation and testing), and a review of building considerations. The design is preliminary only at this stage (Phase II includes the detailed design). Costs shown here are estimates, with detailed breakdowns given for the preferred system only.
