Abstract
As the second phase of a multiphase program designed to evaluate remote laboratory and in situ techniques for estimating sediment reflectivity and attentuation, Dalhousie scientists collected and analyzed seismic and core data from three regions during the Arctic NORPLOY program. Three areas (Barrow Strait, Pond Inlet and Saglek Bank) were surveyed using a high-resolution seismic system (ORE GEOPULSE) and a 12 kHz echo sounder. Seventeen gravity cores were collected in the Barrow Strait and Pond Inlet areas; grab samples were collected at each site. Those cores that were appropriate for analyses (9) were split and sampled for density, porosity, and water content. Shear strength measurements were made as well as velocity and attenuation V sub p estimates.
