- Abstract
- It is predicted that it will be possible to build the advanced route survey/mine-hunting information system defined in this study within the next five to ten years. Critical technologies include disk arrays, optical tape, image compression algorithms, spatial indexing algorithms, real-time distributed operating systems designed to handle multi-gigabyte files, geographic information system support for true image databases, and faster, fully distributed database management systems.
