Abstract
A study of the feasibility of mustard destruction by hydrolysis was carried out in the laboratory and also on a larger scale in a field trial using 125 gallons of mustard to 125 gallons of water. Calcium hydroxide was used to neutralize the hydrochloric acid produced on hydrolysis. The primary products of the reaction were thiodiglycol and calcium chloride.
