Abstract
The emissions of the 0-0 and 1-1 bands of the 02(b super 1 sigma sub g super + approaches the limit of X super 3 sigma sub g super -) transition have been observed at 762 and 771 nm respectively in the photolysis of 03/02/Ar mixtures at 253.7 nm. From the dependence of these emissions on the concentration of oxygen for various ozone concentrations the following conclusions can be drawn: one-quarter to one-half of the 02(b super 1 sigma sub g super +) molecules formed in the energy transfer from 0(2 super 1 D2) to 02(X super 3 sigma g super -) are in the vibrational state nu prime = 1, the remainder being in the nu prime = 0 state.
