Abstract
The study deals with comparative levels of military power in East Asia and their significance in the international politics of this region. The purpose is to assess the degrees of stability and change in the contemporary pattern of East Asian power relationships. This is a highly complex pattern, in which the projection, threat, and potential use of force has varying degrees of significance for processes of interaction within the area.
