Abstract
Simultaneous use of two surface-active agents to improve the properties of composite propellants was studied by mechanical spectroscopy. It was established that propellants containing 0.2% amine polyester in the polybutadiene binder and 0.6 to 1.2% aziridine polyester showed adequate initial mechanica l properties and maintained those properties upon accelerated aging. It was also established that too low a concentration of aziridine polyester (less than 0.6%) resulted in weaker properties and that ferric oxide reduced the efficiency of surfactants. Various hypotheses are proposed to explain the behavior of surfactants.
