Abstract
An ionizing radiation dose-rate meter, which uses a silicon diode detector, has been built and tested. This instrument demonstrates the feasibility of using a solid-state detector for a energies above 60 keV and over a dose-rate range determined by the detector area. The solid-state instrument can not, at present, compete favourably with dose-rate meters employing ionization chambers.
