Abstract
The outdated equipment of the DREV aeroballistic range, which included a combination of photographic and yaw card stations, is being replaced by a series of 54 new orthogonal photographic ones. Each station uses two point light sources for projecting shadows of the projectile onto orthogonal reflecting panels which are then photographed by two cameras. A short distance uprange of each station, a detector senses the arrival of the projectile and informs a controller which, after a time delay, triggers the light sources. The controllers, tied through a common bus to the operator's console, are used to remotely set the detector gains and the photography time delays, to simulate a projectile arrival and to provide a status of station readiness. This document reports on the projectile detector and the station controller.
