NOISE CHARACTERISTICS IN NMR SPECTRA

Abstract
Some of the characteristics have been determined of the noise background of a nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectrometer. The calculation of the power spectrum of frequency indicates that a periodic component of 60 Hz is present in the unfiltered output, while the filtered output exhibits some frequencies in the 20 Hz region. The noise is well represented by a Gaussian probability density distribution and the skewness and kurtosis coefficients are close to theoretical values.
