Abstract
The report describes the production, characterization and consolidation of rapidly solidified copper-10% Ni alloys. The technique of producing narrow (<10mm) and wide (approximately equals 15mm) ribbons of Cu-10% Ni by melt spinning, is fully detailed. Physical characteristics of this product in terms of macro and microstructures and mechanical characteristics in terms of tensil strength and micro-hardness are recorded. Experimental conditions and pretreatments on rapidly solidified ribbon required to produce a suitable consolidated product, are reported.
