Abstract
A brief review is presented of the environmental conditions contributing to human discomfort and performance decrement in hot working environments. The efficiency of the Wet Bulb Globe Temperature (WBGT) index in the measurement and amelioration of heat stress is presented. Particular attention is given to the implementation of instrumentation and standards to enhance employee performance in hot industries.
