Abstract
A system for generating an arbitrary acoustic waveform and monitoring the performance of an underwater acoustic source has been developed. This system employs a Macintosh personal computer and National Instrument's LabView software. Acoustic waveform data files are generated off-line and later sent to an acoustic projector using the developed software. Environmental data from the projector are received on a serial data line. These data are displayed on the computer's screen and permanently stored in data files. A simple text file controls the system's signal generation sequence and allows inexperienced computer users to control complex signal generation tasks.
