Abstract
Explosions have occured at summer temperature in 8 out of 11 tests in which single rounds of 50 calibre incendiary or ball ammunition were fired at flame thrower fuel tanks containing residual fuel and air under a pressure of 270 to 290 lb/sq in. Explosions did not occur when the air was replaced by nitorgen.
