Abstract
The effect of various experimental waxes and several proprietary waxes has been studied to determine their effectiveness in minimizing the attack of ozone on natural rubber compounds. Comparative tests between accelerated ozone- and normal atmospheric-checking were carried out. The data from the two tests do not correlate but the results indicate that certain waxes are more effective in delaying exposure cracking than others in the compound selected.
