Abstract
The paper extends our earlier work on the blood lactate(LA) response to the Canadian Aerobic Fitness Test (CAFT). The sample was 98 Canadian forces females between the ages of 18-45 y. The LA after each stage of the step test was measured by sampling blood from the finger tip. Aerobic power measured directly during a treadmill run in 66 subjects was correlated to the LA values. Results showed that increasing stages of the step test were associated with increasing LA levels in blood. LA correlated significantly with directly measured aerobic power. It was concluded that LA could be used to predict aerobic power.
