Abstract
This was a detailed study of charge acceptance at low temperatures, and of the effects of temperature and discharge current on the electrical output delivered by individual sintered nickel positive and negative plates. The results show in detail the electrical limitations of the positive and the negative plates. The information is useful from a design point of view, and also leads to certain general conclusions regarding the electrochemical operation of sintered plates. The detrimental effects of heavy contamination of the electrolyte by carbonate are shown.
