Abstract
Report outlines a general program aimed at developing radioprotective compounds which act at the cellular level and also describes the experimental screening techniques to be used for their evaluation. The most successful compounds examined to date may be divided into two main classes, biological amines and amino-alkylmercaptans. A series of 2-(n-alkyl)aminopropylthiosulphuric acids has been synthesized in which the alkly group varied from methyl to dodecyl. A rearrangement of the structure occurred due to the opening of the unsymmetrical aziridine derivative formed as an intermediate in the reactions.
