Abstract
Canada, represented by Defence Research Establishment Suffield, has made numerous contributions to the Technical Group on Instrumentation of the Ad Hoc Committee on Chemical Weapons of the United Nations Conference on Disarmament. Defence Research Establishment Suffield participated in all three international round robin analytical exercises organized by the Technical Group on Instrumentation, made several written submissions including the "Designated Laboratory Sample Handling Manual" and "Sample Analysis: Confirmation Criteria" and provided the group with sample handling and analysis methods. The international round robin exercises demonstrated that it will be possible to analyse samples and confirm the identity of compounds relevant to the Chemical Weapons Convention in research laboratories with experience in chemical warfare agent analysis.
