Abstract
Manufacturing techniques for planar, single mode waveguides, such as Mg:Ti:LiNbO3, Mg:Ti:Mg:LiNbO3, Ti:Mg:LiNbO3, and Zn:LiNbO3 have been implemented with the materials of the highest purity available. Theresults were evaluated using the secondary ion mass spectrometry (SIMS) and mass spectrometry (MS). The waveguiding properties and the optical damage have been measured with the TM sub 0 and the TE sub 0 modesusing the Mach-Zehnder interferometre.
