Abstract
The Adaptive Signal Processing Testbed (ASPT) is a real-time multiprocessor system utlizing digital signal processor (DSP) technology on VMEbus based printed circuit boards installed on a SUN Workstation. The ASPT has specific requirements (particularly as regards the signalexcision application) with respect to interfacing with current and planned data generation equipment, processing of the data, storage to disk of final and intermediate results, and development tools for applications development and integration into the overall EW/COM computing environment. A prototype ASPT was implemented using 3 VME-C30 boards from Applied silicon. Experience gained during the prototype developmentled to the conclusions that interprocessor communications capability is the most significant contributor to overall ASPT performance.
