Abstract
One of the major issues discussed at the 1991 DND Conference on Employment Equity was the "glass ceiling" - an invisible yet impenetrable barrier which prevents women from advancing to senior management levels, or in the case of the military, to senior ranks. This study examines the rank distributions of men and women in the Canadian Forces (CF) to determine if such a barrier exists for women in the military.
