Abstract
Search and analysis of the information already published on light damage production and healing in planar, single mode LiNbO3 waveguides, relevant to the particular geometry utilized for the construction of the processor (TEo and TMo polarized light and Y-cut plate of LiNbO3 propagating at 3.1 degree from the X-axis); review of various measurement techniques used for evaluation of the optical damage; analyze the present prototype fabrication facility for Ti:LiNbO3 devices at the University of Toronto; define necessary modifications of the existing equipment and need for new equipment in order to fabricate consistently good quality optical waveguides; review techniques used in other laboratories.
