Abstract
The report provides a summary of the non-acoustic data associated with the Canadian measurements taken during the Heard Island feasibility test. The non-acoustic data is comprised of information recorded by the two Canadian receiving ships, CFAV ENDEAVOUR and CFAV QUEST as well as data from the source ship, the United States R/V CORY CHOUEST. CFAV ENDEAVOUR was manned by personnel from the Defence Research Establishment Pacific (DREP) and recorded acoustic signals transmitted from Heard Island over a four day period using a towed horizontal line array operating off the west coast of the continental United States. CFAV QUEST was manned by personnel from the Defence Research Establishment Atlantic (DREA) and recorded acoustic signals using a different towed horizontal line array off the east coast of Canada. The source ship was located in the vicinity of Heard Island in the southern Indian Ocean and used an acoustic array of low-frequency high-power sources provided by the US Navy to generate the long-range propagation signals.
