Abstract
The report documents the research carried out at the Royal Military College from April 1988 to March 1992 into the capacity of three different ship connection designs, namely: the St. John Shipyard design which has already been incorporated in the Canadian Patrol Frigates, a design proposed by DMEM which is a variation on the first, and an improved design developed at RMC for which the weight was optimized. The connection studied is situated on the centre-line longitudinal bulkhead at frame #47.5, and serves to distribute the stress concentrations caused by cutting away a section of the longitudinal bulkhead to allow for the positioning of equipment.
