Abstract
A detailed analysis of the existing sea-going sonar signal processing system was performed. This analysis involved the estimation of expected times for each computational stage, broken down by frequency band and position in the spectral cycle, as appropriate. The actual times taken by these stages were then measured and compared with the expected times. The times required for input and output were also measured. On the basis of these investigations, the following observations were made.
