Abstract
The memorandum describes a proposed workplan for the development project D61XP on naval ship structures risk assessment. D61XP is part of the larger project on naval structural maintenance (NSMP) covering the overall DSE (formerly DNASE at the time that this document was produced) goal of improving ship maintenance efficiency through management of structural damage. The primary focus of D61XP is to provide a computer aided tool to quantify the risk associated with operating a vessel which has sustained some type of structural damage. The document, which was produced before internal project definition studies were contracted, is intended to assist the steering committee of D61XP to plan project definition studies and a workplan for the project.
