Abstract
The report documents the findings of Year 2 of the three year project "Extension of Power Flow Finite Element Analysis to Ship Structures." The work conducted this year consisted largely of theoretical investigations, the results of which will allow completion of the specific tasks of this project in Year 3. Some general Power Flow Finite Element Analysis (PFFEA) issues were considered, including discussions on the disadvantages of PFFEA over other methods, the frequency ranges of applicability of PFFEA (in general terms), the fundamental assumptions underlying PFFEA, the validity and importance of a diffuse energy field, as well as several other specific items.
