Abstract
Summarizes the development work related to the design and fabrication of hydrophones based on lead titanate piezoelectric materials. Sensitivity charts have been developed for a wide range of wall thickness to diameter ratios of ceramic tubes and the results have been compared with Navy Standard Type II (BM500) materials. A hydrophone design has been selected for utilizing the lead titanate ceramics in hydrostatic mode. Six hydrophones have been delivered to DREA for evaluation.
