Abstract
A Litton Systems (Canda) Ltd. (LSL) gyroscope, designated the CSG-2, was incorporated into an experimental Attitude and Heading Reference System (AHRS) for evaluation purposes. The prototype gyroscope, a two-degree-of-freedom, tuned rotor, strapdown instrument, employs unique fabrication methods including advanced electro-discharge machining techniques and laser welding. The result is a highly-stable yet inexpensive instrument capable of random drift rates of less than 0.01 deg/hr.
