- Abstract
- Several useful properties associated with the normal modes in an elastic waveguide are derived using the principles of conservation of energy and reciprocity. In particular, general expressions for mode orthogonality, mode excitation, mode group speed and mode attenuation are derived. All of these modal properties are integral components of the DREP normal mode model, SOLID.
