EVALUATION OF T.I.M.E. WELD PROCEDURES OPTIMIZED FOR HY80/HY100 STEELS USING SPECIALLY DESIGNED FRONIUS WELDING EQUIPMENT

Abstract
Over the past number of years, research has shown the T.I.M.E. Process to be the best process for joining HY80 to HY80 and HY100 to HY100. The purpose of this investigation was to continue this work by using state-of-the-art power sources and pulsed welding controllers, preprogrammed for T.I.M.E. Weldments were prepared with both HY80 and HY100 welded in vertical down (3G) and flat overhead (1G/4G) positions. Testing for this report included hardness, chemical, macro and non-destructive examination. A number of dynamic tear and explosion panels were also prepared for further evaluation at DREA.
