- Abstract
- The main objective of this work is to carry out a comprehensive review on the studies reported in the literature concerning the mechanical strengthening process applied to the fastened joints; both analytical and experimental aspects of cold working and interference-fit will be covered. The main parameters which have an influence on the quality of the process and the non-destructive examination techniques which are appropriate to qualify the cold expansion will also been discussed. The outcome of this review will permit to plan a research program on the subject; the results of such a project are necessary for establishing effectively plans for maintenance and servicing of the fleet aircrafts in operation.
