Abstract
This operational memorandum contains observations made by the author while in attendance on Northern Lancer II, a Canadian Forces exercise conducted at Resolute on Cornwallis Island during the period November 20 to November 29, 1971. Attention was directed at the problems encountered by members of the Canadian Airborne Regiment in the performance of their duties. It was noted that a significant decline of morale and efficiency developed in the regiment during the exercise. The factors primarily responsible for this decline were the extremely cold temperatures and the operational problems of sleeping and eating in these conditions.
