Abstract
The objective of the report is to identify new polymeric materials of possible interest for chemical and biological warfare (CBW) protection applications. The polymeric materials to be suggested are ones that are already in commercial production, having come to the marketplace recently, or ones that are in the research and development stages. The current technology involving the use of polymeric materials in the CBW application area was reviewed using the unclassified literature. Most of the literature reported on U.S. and Canadian experience and helped illustrate some of the requirements that must be met for a polymeric material to be useful in this type of application. In this framework, new polymeric materials were identified and suggestions were made as to what new polymeric materials should be considered for CBW applications that seemed appropriate. The suggestions were constrained to development projects that would be of a short-term nature, not multi-year programs.
