Abstract
This work demonstrates that the ALPINEX (Aperture LInear-Predictive Interpolation and Extrapolation) beamforming technique is applicable to circular arrays. The approach employs a pseudo line array representation of the circular array based on its spatial harmonics. Linear prediciton is applied to the spatial harmonics both to extend and fill the array. This extended array has improved performance with respect to resolving closely spaced signals. Analytic results are presented which describe the basic performance of the method. Simulation is used to detail performance for complicated scenarios.
