Abstract
SAMPLE (A Seismo-Acoustic Mode Program for Layered Environments) is a capable and general set of software tools for the modelling of time-harmonic wave propagation in stratified solid, and/or fluid, media. This research code was developed at the Defence Research Establishment Pacific, and presently is being upgarded to a production code. This report describes the mathematical framework underlying the code.
