Abstract
A gas chromatographic method is described for the detection and quantification of barbiturates in biological specimens resulting from aviation mishaps. Eleven barbiturates and glutethimide were chemically extracted and subsequently separated and identified with a F1D-equipped gas chromatograph. Detection of barbiturates in urine, blood, or liver was possible at concentrations as low as 0.01 mg%.
