ASSESSMENT OF ERRORS IN GAMMA DOSE MEASUREMENT IN THE DREO FAST-NEUTRON PHANTOM EXPERIMENT

Abstract
Thermoluminescence detectors, and a miniature geiger counter were used to measure gamma dose outside and inside a human phantom during whole-body irradiation with 2.95-MeV neutrons. Because of low dose rate, and high background fields, the dosimetry systems were operating at their limit of sensitivity. The report presents a detailed review of the possible sources of error, under seven general headings, and estimates the magnitude of each of the errors.
