Abstract
An improved gas-solid chromatographic method for the analysis of decontaminating agent Cl has been developed using Chromosorb 103 as the column packing. This packing material provided better peak shape and gave more precise and accurate results more rapidly than those afforded by the method reported earlier. A normalization method of assessing the percentage composition of the decontaminant was preferred to the use of internal standards. Results for standard samples were within the accuracy limits required by Canadian Army Equipment Specification CA-N107, and sample injection can be repeated every five minutes. An additional component, 1-(2-aminoethyl)-piperazine, not detected by the previously described method was demonstrated to be present as a major impurity.
