SPONTANEOUS AND DRIVEN RESPONSES FROM PRIMARY NEURONS OF THE ANTERIOR SEMICIRCULAR CANAL OF THE PIGEON

Abstract
Preliminary results are presented based on the resting and driven behavior of primary neurons from the anterior semicircular canal in the white king pigeon. Of 150 units isolated from Scarpa's ganglion, 95 units displayed an initially positive-going action potential sequence and the remaining 55 units an initially negative-going sequence. From their behavior, under conditions of rest and during sinusoidal angular acceleration stimulation, a number of observations were made.
