PRESSURE DEPENDENT ABSORPTION IN BCl3 AT 10.6 m

Abstract
The absorption of 26 lines of a CO2 laser by BCl3 has been measured over a wide range of pressures. At low pressures saturation effects occurred for powers as low as 200 milliwatts/cm. Above 1 torr, the absorption coefficient is found to increase linearly with pressure. A theoretical model has been formulated to interpret these results.
