Abstract
A theoretical model of a laser beam, based on a probable energy distribution between the transverse modes, allows the evaluation of the total energy density distributions. This model, when complemented by a set of observations, shows a method of producing high peak power density in the image volume of a focussing element. Improvements to the theory are suggested in the conclusion. Les auteurs proposent un modle thorique d'un faisceau laser qui, en postulant la distribution de l'nergie totale dans les modes transversaux, permet l'valuation des distributions de densit d'nergie. Ce modle initial, joint  un ensemble d'observations met en vidence une mthode de production de grandes puissances crtes dans le volume image d'un lment optique convergent. Des amliorations au modle propos sont suggres en conclusion.
